Who can get a NILS loan?
To apply for a NILS loan you need to be:
- holding a Centrelink Health Care Card or Pension Card;
and/or
- $70,000 per annum before tax or under for singles; or
- $100,000 per annum before tax or under for couples or people with dependents.

What can I get a loan for?
Loan purposes include but are not limited to, the following:
- White goods
- Household furniture
- Medical, dental and optical expenses
- Educational costs
- Technology costs
- Car related costs (e.g., registration, driving lessons, repair, insurance excess, CTP)
- Moving costs
- Vet costs
- Rent Advance and/or Bond
NILS cannot be used for emergency relief, rental arrears, utilities arrears, or debt repayments.
NILS cannot be taken out as cash.
How much can I borrow?
Borrow up to $2000 for essentials such as appliances, furniture, car repairs, registration and CTP, technology, medical, dental expenses, and various other approved essential items and or services.
Borrow up to $3000 for housing related expenses such as bond & rent advance for a new rental property with a registered real estate agent (excluding private rentals)
Costs associated with a natural disaster.
What documents do I need for the application?
Please have the following documents ready to upload to this form when required:
- 100 points of ID. (Please click here to see what documents are needed)
- Detailed Income and Asset Statement form Centrelink and/or Pay slips if you are employed.
- Rental Ledger or Housing Statement - If you own your own home, mortgage statement and council rates.
- A quote with the business’ valid ABN, BSB and Account Number. No Screenshots of items. Needs to be actual quote from store or service provider. (For car repairs, please supply registration papers as proof of ownership.)
- Your latest electricity bill for the property you are in.
- Bank Statements. There will be a link you will need to click to provide bank statements. (Please click here for the bank statements to be sent through to us)
